Grapes…?
Tonight I finally caught a performance of Lobster Alice put on by The Blank Theatre Company. While I thought the entire cast was fantastic, the standout for me was Noah Wyle as Salvador Dali, a performance I would characterize as “charismatic insane”. Watching him was like watching an acting class. He was big but still very precise in all of his movements. He took command of the stage but gave a lot to his fellow cast members. And the accent and facial expressions just killed me.
As for the play itself, it’s hard to comment on a especially surreal work in an already organic/non-formulaic medium. I’ll just say that play depended on the strength of the actors to carry it, and the cast didn’t disappoint at all.
On an interesting not, the 2nd Stage Theater is the first place I’ve been to where the audience had to walk through the set to get to the restroom.
